ARTIST BIO
Robert Sean Coons' new work is about dichotomies. However, you would never realize that just by glancing at this body of work.
Please don't be fooled by the simplicity of these paintings, there's a secret hidden within them. Each painting blends a beautiful
sky or watery landscape in the background with overlaying objects from nature or man's own design. The foreground images appear
very simple, but actually they are metaphors. These images act as a distraction, hence the title of the exhibition "Distractions".
Why are these images trying to distract your attention? What is their purpose? Once you realize the deeper meaning you are
able to see the dualities within the paintings. Then the art transforms into a provocative meshing of opposing ideas or dichotomies.
Once the viewer experiences the hidden meaning, you can almost interact with the work. It will spark curiosity or controversy in anyone who uncovers the secret.
